Alian District is located in the northwest part of Kaohsiung city. To the east, it is bordered by Da Gang Shan and Tianliao District; to the west, it connects with Luzhu District; to the south, it is adjacent to Gangshan District; and to the north, it is bordered by Erren River and the districts of Gueiren and Guanmiao in Tainan City.
